Shrimp and Spinach Ravioli with Asiago Cheese

Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup of fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1/2 cup of grated Asiago cheese
  • 1/4 cup of ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 package of square wonton wrappers
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 cup of marinara sauce
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  • In a food processor, combine 1 pound of shrimp, 1 cup of chopped spinach, 1/2 cup of grated Asiago cheese, 1/4 cup of ricotta cheese, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Pulse until the mixture is finely chopped and well combined.
  • Lay out several wonton wrappers on a clean, dry surface. Place a small spoonful of the shrimp and spinach mixture in the center of each wrapper. Brush the edges of the wrapper with beaten egg, then fold the wrapper over the filling to create a triangle. Press the edges firmly to seal. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully add the ravioli to the boiling water and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until they float to the surface. Remove the ravioli with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel.
  • In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the cooked ravioli to the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until lightly browned.
  • Serve the ravioli with marinara sauce and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Enjoy!

Shrimp and Spinach Ravioli with Asiago Cheese is a delectable Italian dish that has a rich history dating back to the coastal regions of Italy. This dish is a fusion of flavors, combining the delicate taste of shrimp with the earthy essence of spinach, all enveloped in the creamy goodness of Asiago cheese. Renowned chefs in regions like Liguria and Tuscany have perfected this dish, infusing it with their own unique culinary flair. The best version of this dish can be found in authentic Italian trattorias, where the ravioli is handmade with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The key to this dish lies in the perfect balance of flavors, where the sweetness of the shrimp harmonizes with the sharpness of the Asiago cheese. For a twist, some chefs also incorporate a hint of lemon zest or a drizzle of truffle oil to elevate the dish to new heights. Whether enjoyed in a rustic Italian village or a bustling metropolitan eatery, Shrimp and Spinach Ravioli with Asiago Cheese is a true culinary delight that never fails to impress.
