The history of Savory Cheese and Herb Kugel with a crispy breadcrumb topping can be traced back to Eastern European Jewish cuisine. This traditional dish has been passed down through generations, evolving to incorporate various herbs and cheeses. Renowned chefs like Yotam Ottolenghi have put their own spin on this classic, adding a modern twist to the recipe. The best versions of this dish can be found in Jewish delis and restaurants in New York City, where the kugel is baked to perfection, achieving a crispy golden topping. The key to getting this dish right lies in the combination of creamy cheeses, fragrant herbs, and a crunchy breadcrumb topping.
