Maple Sausage Muffins
Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground pork sausage
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 eggs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin or line with paper liners.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground pork sausage until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat. Stir in 1/4 cup of maple syrup and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
- In a separate bowl, mix together 1 cup of milk, 1/4 cup of melted unsalted butter, and 2 eggs. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Gently fold in the cooked sausage mixture until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about 3/4 full.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the muffins are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the muffins to cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
