Spicy Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit Sandwich
Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 pound spicy ground sausage
- 4 large eggs
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture and use a pastry cutter or fork to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the buttermilk and stir until the dough comes together. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it until it comes together.
- Roll the dough out to 1-inch thickness and use a biscuit cutter to cut out 8 biscuits. Place the biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- While the biscuits are baking, form the spicy ground sausage into 4 patties. Cook the sausage patties in a skillet over medium heat for 4-5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and browned.
- In a separate skillet, fry the eggs to your desired doneness, seasoning with salt and pepper.
- To assemble the sandwiches, slice the biscuits in half and place a sausage patty, fried egg, and a slice of cheddar cheese on the bottom half of each biscuit. Top with the other half of the biscuit and serve immediately.
