Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of breakfast sausage
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 8 slices of bread, cubed
  • 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried mustard

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large skillet, cook 1 pound of breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned. Add the diced onion, red bell pepper, and green bell pepper, and cook until the vegetables are softened. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Spread the cubed bread in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the cooked sausage and vegetable mixture over the bread. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together 8 eggs, 2 cups of milk, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of dried mustard. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, sausage, and cheese in the baking dish.
  • Cover the baking dish with foil and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the bread to soak up the egg mixture.
  • Bake the casserole, covered, in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, or until the casserole is set and the top is golden brown.
  • Allow the casserole to cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
