Extra Sprinkle Rainbow Bagel
Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 packet of active dry yeast
- 1 1/4 cups of warm water
- 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- Assorted food coloring (red, yellow, green, blue)
- Extra sprinkles for topping
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar in the warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into 5 equal parts. Leave one part plain and dye the other four parts with the assorted food coloring to create a rainbow of dough.
- Roll each colored dough into ropes and then twist them together to form a rainbow pattern. Gently roll and stretch the twisted dough until it forms a long rope.
- Join the ends of the rope to form a bagel shape and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise for 20 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Once boiling, carefully drop the bagels into the water and boil for 1 minute on each side. Remove and place them back on the baking sheet.
- Sprinkle extra sprinkles on top of each bagel.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bagels are golden brown.
- Allow the bagels to cool before serving. Enjoy your extra sprinkle rainbow bagels!
