Canadian

Poutine, a beloved Canadian dish, originated in Quebec in the late 1950s. It's a comforting combination of crispy fries, cheese curds, and rich gravy. Some say it was invented by Fernand Lachance, while others credit restaurateur Jean-Paul Roy. The dish quickly gained popularity and spread across Canada, becoming a staple in diners, pubs, and fine dining establishments. Today, poutine can be found in various forms, from classic renditions to gourmet versions with added toppings like pulled pork or foie gras. For the best poutine experience, head to Quebec, where chefs take pride in perfecting the balance of crispy fries, squeaky cheese curds, and savory gravy.
