Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup sliced green olives
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.
- Add 1 finely chopped onion and 2 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
- Add 1 lb of ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in 1 diced green bell pepper and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- Add 1 can of diced tomatoes, 1/4 cup of raisins, 1/4 cup of sliced green olives, 1 teaspoon of ground cumin, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Simmer the picadillo over low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors have melded together.
- Serve the picadillo over rice or with warm tortillas and enjoy!
