  • 2 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 2-3 red chilies, finely chopped
  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup water

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  • Add the cubed tofu and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  • Add the minced garlic, sliced shallots, and chopped red chilies. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Return the cooked tofu to the pan and stir to combine with the garlic, shallots, and chilies.
  • Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar. Stir well to coat the tofu and vegetables.
  • Pour in the water and allow the mixture to simmer for 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has slightly thickened.
  • Add the fresh basil leaves and toss everything together until the basil is wilted.
  • Remove from heat and serve the tofu pad krapow hot, with steamed rice.
