Instructions

  • In a shallow dish, mix 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.
  • Pour 1 cup of buttermilk into another shallow dish.
  • Place 2 cups of panko breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.
  • Dip the onion rings into the seasoned flour, then into the buttermilk, and finally coat them in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Fry the coated onion rings in batches for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
