  • 8 oz linguine pasta
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  • In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the linguine according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In the same pot, heat the olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add the shrimp to the pot and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the pot and set aside.
  • Pour the white wine and lemon juice into the pot, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  • Stir in the remaining tablespoon of butter and return the cooked linguine and shrimp to the pot. Toss everything together to coat the pasta and shrimp with the sauce.

One-Pot Shrimp Scampi Pasta is a classic Italian-American dish that has gained popularity for its delicious combination of flavors and ease of preparation. This dish is believed to have originated in the Italian-American communities, particularly in the New York City area, where Italian immigrants put their own twist on traditional Italian recipes. The dish typically consists of succulent shrimp, garlic, butter, white wine, and lemon, all sautéed together and then tossed with pasta. The one-pot method makes it a convenient and quick meal to prepare, perfect for busy weeknights. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in Italian restaurants across the United States, particularly in coastal regions known for their fresh seafood. The key to a perfect One-Pot Shrimp Scampi Pasta lies in using high-quality, fresh ingredients, especially the shrimp, as well as achieving the right balance of flavors from the garlic, butter, and lemon. While the traditional method involves cooking the pasta and shrimp together in one pot, some chefs may offer alternative methods, such as finishing the dish in the oven or adding a touch of cream for a richer sauce. Whether enjoyed at a renowned Italian eatery or prepared at home, One-Pot Shrimp Scampi Pasta is a delightful dish that captures the essence of Italian cuisine with a modern twist.
