Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 cup Nutella
- Sliced strawberries (optional, for serving)
- Powdered sugar (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup of flour and 2 eggs.
- Gradually add in 1/2 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of water, stirring to combine.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 2 tablespoons of melted butter, and whisk until smooth.
- Heat a lightly oiled non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Pour or scoop the batter onto the pan, using approximately 1/4 cup for each crepe. Tilt the pan with a circular motion so that the batter coats the surface evenly.
- Cook the crepe for about 2 minutes, until the bottom is light brown. Loosen with a spatula, turn and cook the other side.
- Spread 2 tablespoons of Nutella on each crepe, then fold the crepe in half and in half again to form a triangle.
- Serve with sliced strawberries and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired. Enjoy!
The history of Nutella crepes dates back to the 1960s when the delectable combination of thin French pancakes and the creamy hazelnut spread was first popularized in Europe. Renowned chefs in France and Italy, such as Gaston Lenôtre and Ferrero, played pivotal roles in elevating the dish to its current iconic status. Today, the best Nutella crepes can be found in the charming streets of Paris, where skilled street vendors expertly spread a generous layer of Nutella on freshly made crepes. The key to a perfect Nutella crepe lies in the delicate balance of the thin, tender crepe and the rich, indulgent Nutella filling. For a unique twist, some chefs incorporate sliced bananas or strawberries to enhance the flavor profile. Whether enjoyed as a street food delight or a decadent dessert in a fine dining establishment, Nutella crepes continue to captivate food enthusiasts worldwide.
