Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their liquid and become golden brown, about 8 minutes. Stir in the dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • Divide the pizza dough into 4 equal portions. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each portion into a 6-inch circle.
  • Divide the mushroom and onion mixture evenly among the 4 dough circles, leaving a border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the mushroom and onion mixture.
  • Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape, then crimp the edges to seal the calzones.
  • Transfer the calzones to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the calzones are golden brown and crispy.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious Mushroom and Onion Calzones!
