Italian

The Mushroom and Mozzarella Calzone has a rich history dating back to Naples, Italy. This delectable dish is a variation of the traditional calzone, a folded pizza filled with savory ingredients. The calzone gained popularity in the 18th century and has since become a beloved Italian staple. The combination of earthy mushrooms and gooey mozzarella cheese creates a burst of flavor in every bite. Renowned chefs in Naples, such as Gino Sorbillo, have perfected this dish, using the finest local ingredients. Today, the best Mushroom and Mozzarella Calzone can still be found in Naples, where the authenticity of the recipe is preserved. The key to a perfect calzone lies in the quality of the dough, the freshness of the mushrooms, and the richness of the mozzarella. For a twist, some chefs add truffle oil or prosciutto to elevate the flavors. Whether enjoyed in a traditional pizzeria or made at home, the Mushroom and Mozzarella Calzone is a true Italian delight.
