The history of margaritas dates back to the 1930s, with conflicting claims of its origin. Some credit it to Mexican restaurant owner Carlos "Danny" Herrera, who supposedly created the drink for a customer allergic to many spirits but not tequila. Others attribute its invention to socialite Margarita Sames, who mixed the concoction for her guests in Acapulco. Regardless of its origins, the margarita has become a beloved cocktail worldwide, especially in regions like Mexico, Texas, and California. The key to a perfect margarita lies in the quality of tequila, fresh lime juice, and orange liqueur, with variations including flavors like mango or strawberry. Today, the best margaritas can be found in authentic Mexican cantinas and trendy cocktail bars.
