Ingredients
- 4 oz tequila
- 2 oz triple sec
- 2 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- 2 tsp agave nectar or simple syrup
- Ice
- Lime wedges, for garnish
- Coarse salt, for rimming the glasses
Instructions
- Rim the glasses: Run a lime wedge around the rim of two glasses and dip the rims into coarse salt to coat.
- In a shaker, combine 4 oz tequila, 2 oz triple sec, 2 oz freshly squeezed lime juice, and 2 tsp agave nectar or simple syrup.
- Add ice to the shaker and shake well to chill the mixture.
- Fill the prepared glasses with ice and strain the margarita mixture into the glasses.
- Garnish with lime wedges and serve immediately.

Some credit it to Mexican restaurant owner Carlos "Danny" Herrera, who supposedly created the drink for a customer allergic to many spirits but not tequila.
