Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions. Add the broccoli florets to the boiling water during the last 2 minutes of cooking. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk and bring to a simmer. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens, stirring constantly.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese until melted. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
