Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup sauerkraut, drained
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 tablespoons mustard
- 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef, 1 cup of drained sauerkraut, 1/2 cup of chopped onion, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of caraway seeds, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix well to combine.
- Form the beef mixture into 4 patties.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and allow it to melt.
- Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
- Spread 1 tablespoon of mustard and 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on each bun.
- Place a patty on the bottom half of each bun, then cover with the top half of the bun.
- Serve the kraut burgers hot and enjoy!
