Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups warm water, 1 packet of active dry yeast, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add 4 cups of all-purpose flour to the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough for 5 minutes, then cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into small pieces. Flatten each piece and place a small amount of finely chopped pickled jalapenos in the center. Fold the dough over the jalapenos and roll into a ball.
  • In a large pot, bring 8 cups of water and 1/4 cup of baking soda to a boil. Boil the pretzel bites in batches for 30 seconds, then remove with a slotted spoon and place on the prepared baking sheet.
