  • 1 pound Italian sausage links
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 4 pieces of Italian bread
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  • In a skillet, cook the Italian sausage links over medium heat until browned and cooked through, about 10 minutes. Remove from the skillet and slice into 1/2 inch pieces.
  • In the same skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant.
  • Add the sliced Italian sausage back to the skillet and toss to coat with the garlic and herb mixture. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Cut the Italian bread pieces in half lengthwise and spread each half with 1 tablespoon of butter. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Place the bread halves on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the cheese is melted.
  • Remove the garlic bread from the oven and top each half with the cooked Italian sausage mixture. Spoon marinara sauce over the sausage and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
