Spicy Garlic Honey Sriracha Chicken Wings
Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 2 lbs chicken wings
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tbsp sriracha sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup honey, 2 tbsp sriracha sauce, 4 cloves minced garlic, 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tsp sesame oil, 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp black pepper. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the glaze thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a large bowl, toss 2 lbs of chicken wings with half of the prepared glaze until evenly coated. Place the wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the wings in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy, turning them halfway through the cooking time.
- Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl and toss with the remaining glaze until well coated.
- Garnish the wings with thinly sliced green onions and serve hot. Enjoy!
The history of Honey Sriracha Chicken Wings with a spicy garlic glaze can be traced back to the fusion of Asian and American flavors. This popular dish combines the sweetness of honey, the heat of Sriracha, and the pungent aroma of garlic to create a tantalizing glaze for crispy chicken wings. Renowned chefs in the United States, particularly in the Southern and Southwestern regions, have put their own spin on this dish, incorporating local ingredients and cooking techniques. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in trendy gastropubs and modern Asian fusion restaurants. The key to perfecting this dish lies in achieving the right balance of sweet, spicy, and savory flavors, as well as ensuring the wings are perfectly crispy. For a unique twist, some chefs also incorporate alternative methods such as grilling or smoking the wings to infuse them with a smoky flavor.
