Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar, 2 tablespoons honey, 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper to make the balsamic honey mustard glaze.
  • Place the chicken breasts in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish, and pour half of the glaze over the chicken. Reserve the other half for later. Marinate the chicken in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours.
  • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Brush the grill grates with 2 tablespoons of olive oil to prevent sticking.
  • Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the used marinade. Grill the chicken for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C), basting with the reserved glaze during the last few minutes of grilling.
  • Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy your balsamic honey mustard grilled chicken!

The history of Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken marinated in a balsamic glaze can be traced back to the fusion of sweet and tangy flavors in European and American cuisines. This dish combines the classic flavors of honey mustard with the rich, complex taste of balsamic vinegar. Chefs in regions like Tuscany and Provence have long used balsamic glaze to enhance the flavor of grilled meats, and this technique has been adapted and popularized in American restaurants. The best version of this dish can be found in upscale restaurants that prioritize high-quality ingredients and expert grilling techniques. The key to getting this dish right lies in the balance of sweet honey, tangy mustard, and the rich, syrupy balsamic glaze. An alternative method for making this dish involves using a balsamic reduction to intensify the flavor and create a glossy finish on the grilled chicken. Overall, the combination of honey mustard and balsamic glaze creates a mouthwatering dish that is both savory and sweet, making it a favorite among food enthusiasts.
