Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup honey, 1/4 cup ketchup, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp smoked paprika, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp black pepper, and 1/4 cup water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Place the chicken wings in a large bowl and drizzle with 2 tbsp vegetable oil. Toss to coat the wings evenly.
  • Arrange the wings in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, turning once halfway through, until the wings are golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the wings from the oven and transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the honey BBQ sauce over the wings and toss to coat evenly.
  • Return the sauced wings to the baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes, until the sauce is sticky and caramelized.
  • Serve the honey BBQ wings hot, with extra sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy!

Honey BBQ wings have a rich history, originating in the southern United States. This delectable dish is a perfect blend of sweet and tangy flavors, with a sticky glaze that makes it irresistible. Chefs in the South, particularly in states like Georgia and Texas, have perfected the art of creating the perfect honey BBQ sauce, using a mix of honey, molasses, and spices to achieve that signature taste. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in renowned BBQ joints and sports bars across the country. The key to making exceptional honey BBQ wings lies in the balance of sweetness and smokiness in the sauce, as well as achieving the perfect crispy texture when cooking the wings. Whether you're grilling, baking, or frying, getting that caramelized glaze just right is essential for a truly mouthwatering experience.
