The Gyro Wrap, a beloved Greek street food, has a rich history dating back to the 1920s when Greek immigrants introduced it to America. The dish features succulent slices of seasoned meat, typically lamb, beef, or chicken, wrapped in warm pita bread with fresh vegetables and tangy tzatziki sauce. The gyro's popularity quickly spread across the US, becoming a staple in Greek restaurants and food trucks. Today, the best Gyro Wraps can be found in Greek neighborhoods like Astoria in New York City or Chicago's Greektown. The key to a perfect Gyro Wrap lies in the tender, well-seasoned meat and the creamy, garlicky tzatziki sauce. Traditional methods of cooking the meat on a vertical rotisserie are also essential for an authentic flavor.
