Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 4 swordfish steaks, about 6 ounces each
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 pounds Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and quartered
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
- In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup olive oil, 2 cloves minced garlic, and salt and pepper to taste. Brush the swordfish steaks with the olive oil mixture.
- Grill the swordfish steaks for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. Remove from the grill and let rest for a few minutes.
- In another small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup softened butter, 1/4 cup lemon juice, and salt and pepper to taste to make the lemon butter sauce. Drizzle the sauce over the grilled swordfish steaks.
- Meanwhile, in a large pot, bring the quartered potatoes and 4 cloves of minced garlic to a boil. Cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender. Drain well.
- Mash the cooked potatoes and garlic with 1/2 cup heavy cream, 1/4 cup butter, and salt and pepper to taste until smooth and creamy.
- Serve the grilled swordfish steaks with a generous dollop of garlic mashed potatoes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and enjoy!
Grilled swordfish with lemon butter is a classic dish that has been enjoyed for centuries. The swordfish is marinated in a zesty blend of lemon, garlic, and herbs, then grilled to perfection, resulting in a tender and flavorful seafood experience. The lemon butter sauce adds a rich and tangy element that perfectly complements the natural sweetness of the swordfish. The dish is often served with a side of creamy garlic mashed potatoes, which provides a comforting and indulgent contrast to the light and flaky swordfish. The creamy texture of the mashed potatoes, combined with the savory garlic flavor, creates a delightful pairing with the grilled fish. This delectable dish has its roots in Mediterranean cuisine, where fresh seafood and vibrant flavors are celebrated. Renowned chefs in coastal regions such as Sicily, Greece, and Southern Italy have perfected the art of grilling swordfish and pairing it with citrus-infused sauces. For the best version of this dish, seek out restaurants with a focus on fresh, high-quality seafood and a commitment to traditional cooking methods. The key to achieving the perfect grilled swordfish with lemon butter lies in sourcing the freshest fish available and mastering the art of grilling to achieve a smoky charred flavor while maintaining the fish's moistness. When preparing the garlic mashed potatoes, using high-quality potatoes and fresh garlic is essential. The potatoes should be boiled until tender, then mashed with butter, cream, and roasted garlic for a luxurious and aromatic side dish that perfectly complements the grilled swordfish.
