Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 tablespoons grated ginger, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1/4 cup honey, and 2 tablespoons rice vinegar to make the marinade.
- Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, turning the fillets halfway through to ensure they are evenly coated.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Brush the grill grates with olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Remove the salmon fillets from the marinade and season with salt and pepper. Discard the remaining marinade.
- Place the salmon fillets on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork. Brush the fillets with the remaining honey glaze during the last few minutes of cooking.
- Transfer the grilled salmon to a serving platter and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve hot and enjoy!
The Ginger Soy Salmon with a honey glaze is a delectable dish that combines the savory flavors of soy and ginger with the sweetness of honey. This dish has its roots in Asian cuisine, where the use of soy and ginger is prevalent in many traditional recipes. The addition of a honey glaze adds a delightful caramelized sweetness to the salmon, creating a perfect balance of flavors. Renowned chefs like Nobu Matsuhisa have popularized this dish in their restaurants, showcasing the delicate balance of flavors and textures. For the best version of this dish, sourcing high-quality salmon and using fresh ginger and honey are essential. The key is to marinate the salmon in a mixture of soy sauce, ginger, and honey to infuse it with flavor before grilling or baking it to perfection.
