Fried rice is a popular Asian dish with a rich history dating back to ancient China. It was originally created as a way to use up leftover rice, making it a thrifty and practical meal. The dish has since evolved into a beloved staple in Chinese, Thai, and Japanese cuisine, with each region adding its own unique twist. Renowned chefs like Martin Yan and Ming Tsai have popularized fried rice in the West, while restaurants like Hakkasan in London and Din Tai Fung in Taiwan are known for their exceptional versions. The key to perfect fried rice lies in using day-old rice and high heat to achieve that coveted wok hei flavor. Whether it's the classic Chinese-style or the spicy Thai variation, fried rice continues to be a beloved comfort food enjoyed worldwide.
