  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  • In a large oven-safe skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  • Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the skillet. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-12 minutes, until the onions are caramelized and golden brown.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  • Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, and sprinkle in the dried thyme. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  • Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, nestling them into the onion mixture. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Remove the skillet from the oven and sprinkle the shredded Gruyere cheese over the chicken. Return the skillet to the oven and broil for 2-3 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
