Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 4 Italian sausage links
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage links and cook until browned and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and sauté the sliced bell peppers and onions until they are tender, about 8-10 minutes. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • While the peppers and onions are cooking, slice the hoagie rolls in half and place them on a baking sheet. In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter and minced garlic. Spread the garlic butter mixture on the cut sides of the hoagie rolls.
  • Place the hoagie rolls in the preheated oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the garlic bread is toasted and golden brown.
  • Once the garlic bread is ready, remove it from the oven and assemble the sandwiches. Place a cooked Italian sausage link on each hoagie roll, then top with the sautéed peppers and onions. Sprinkle each sandwich with a generous amount of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • Return the assembled sandwiches to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove the sandwiches from the oven and serve hot. Enjoy your extra cheesy Italian sausage and pepper hoagie on garlic bread!
