Ingredients
- 8 ounces elbow macaroni
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir to combine. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- In a small bowl, combine the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, and Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle over the macaroni mixture.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden and crispy.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
