Cinnamon Coffee Tiramisu

Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 tablespoon instant espresso powder
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, stir together the brewed coffee and instant espresso powder. Set aside to cool.
  • In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Whisk constantly until the mixture is pale and thick, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  • Add the mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture and whisk until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until stiff peaks form.
  • Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
  • Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture for a few seconds, making sure not to soak them completely. Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of an 8x8 inch dish.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Before serving, dust the top with unsweetened cocoa powder and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.
  • Slice and serve chilled. Enjoy!
Dessert
Italian

Coffee Tiramisu, a classic Italian dessert, has a rich history dating back to the 1960s. This delectable treat is believed to have originated in the Veneto region of Italy, where talented chefs combined creamy mascarpone cheese, espresso-soaked ladyfingers, and a hint of cocoa to create a heavenly dessert. The addition of cinnamon adds a warm, aromatic flavor that complements the coffee and mascarpone beautifully. Today, this beloved dessert can be found in top-notch Italian restaurants around the world, with some chefs adding their own unique twists, such as using cinnamon-infused espresso or incorporating cinnamon into the mascarpone filling. For the best Coffee Tiramisu experience, seek out a restaurant with a skilled pastry chef who understands the importance of balancing the flavors and textures to create a truly unforgettable dessert.
