Churros are a beloved Spanish treat with a rich history dating back to the 16th century. Legend has it that Spanish shepherds created the first churros, frying strips of dough to resemble the horns of the Churra sheep. Today, churros are popular worldwide, especially in Latin America and the United States. These crispy, sugary delights are often enjoyed with a cup of thick hot chocolate or dulce de leche for dipping. In Spain, renowned chefs like Ferran Adrià have put their own modern twist on churros, while in Mexico, street vendors serve up traditional churros dusted with cinnamon sugar. For the best churros, look for a recipe that uses a light, airy dough and high-quality chocolate for dipping.
