  • In a large mixing bowl, beat 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  • In another bowl, whisk together 8 ounces of mascarpone cheese, 1/2 cup of powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
  • In a shallow dish, combine 1/2 cup of brewed espresso and 1/4 cup of coffee liqueur.
  • Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso mixture, making sure not to soak them, and arrange them in the bottom of a 9x9 inch serving dish.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  • Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Before serving, dust the top with 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder and sprinkle with 1/4 cup of toasted sliced almonds.
