Cherry Clafoutis with Vanilla Ice Cream is a classic French dessert that originated in the Limousin region. This delectable dish features sweet cherries enveloped in a rich, custard-like batter, baked to perfection. The origins of this dessert can be traced back to the 19th century, where it was traditionally made with unpitted cherries to enhance the flavor. Over time, variations have emerged, with some chefs adding a touch of almond extract or kirsch for an extra layer of flavor. Today, this delightful dessert can be found in many French bistros and patisseries, and it continues to be a beloved treat for those with a sweet tooth. For the best version of this dish, head to a traditional French bistro or try making it at home with fresh, ripe cherries and high-quality vanilla ice cream.
