  • 1 cup of chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large skillet, cook the crumbled sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the butter to the skillet and let it melt. Sprinkle the flour over the onion and garlic, and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes to make a roux.
  • Slowly pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the dried thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle half of the cooked sausage and half of the crumbled bacon over the potatoes. Pour half of the sauce over the layers. Sprinkle half of the cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese over the sauce.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, sausage, bacon, and sauce. Top with the remaining cheeses.
  • Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
