Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large pot, blanch the broccoli florets in boiling water for 2 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk and continue cooking until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Remove the sauce from the heat and stir in 3/4 cup of cheddar cheese and 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
  • In the prepared baking dish, layer the cooked chicken and blanched broccoli. Pour the cheese sauce over the top and gently stir to combine.
  • Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese over the casserole, then top with breadcrumbs.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
