Candied Yams with Cinnamon and Nutmeg

Ingredients
- 6 medium yams, peeled and sliced into 1/2 inch rounds
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- In a large bowl, mix together 1 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
- Place the sliced yams in a 9x13 inch baking dish and pour 1/2 cup of melted unsalted butter over them. Sprinkle the sugar and spice mixture over the yams.
- Pour 1/2 cup of water into the bottom of the baking dish.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes, or until the yams are tender and the sauce has thickened, basting the yams with the sauce every 5 minutes.
- Serve the candied yams hot, spooning the sauce over the top. Enjoy!
