  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (for sauce)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (for sauce)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (for sauce)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top.
  • In a large bowl, mix together 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
  • Dredge the chicken wings in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess, and place them on the wire rack.

Buffalo wings, also known as hot wings, originated in Buffalo, New York in the 1960s. The dish was created at the Anchor Bar by Teressa Bellissimo, who deep-fried leftover chicken wings and tossed them in a spicy cayenne pepper hot sauce. This iconic dish quickly gained popularity and spread across the United States, becoming a staple in sports bars and restaurants. Today, the best buffalo wings can still be found in Buffalo, where they are served with celery sticks and blue cheese dressing. The key to perfect buffalo wings lies in the crispy texture of the wings and the tangy, spicy sauce that coats them. Some alternative methods for making buffalo wings include grilling or baking them for a healthier twist.
