Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 cup of warm water
- 1/4 cup of whole milk
- 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup of your favorite jam (strawberry, raspberry, apricot, etc.)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, milk, and 2 eggs. Mix until a dough forms.
- Add the softened butter and knead the dough for 10-15 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Beat the remaining egg and brush it over the risen brioche balls. Make an indentation in the center of each ball and fill it with a spoonful of jam.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the brioche is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Allow the brioche to cool on a wire rack before serving. Enjoy your delicious brioche with jam!
Brioche with jam is a classic French pastry that has been enjoyed for centuries. This delectable treat consists of a rich and buttery brioche bread, typically made with eggs and butter, that is sliced and toasted to perfection. The brioche is then generously slathered with sweet and fruity jam, such as raspberry or apricot, adding a burst of flavor to every bite. In France, brioche with jam is a popular breakfast or snack option, often enjoyed with a steaming cup of coffee or tea. Renowned French chefs, such as Pierre Hermé and Alain Ducasse, have put their own unique spin on this traditional dish, elevating it to new heights of culinary excellence. Today, the best versions of brioche with jam can be found in quaint patisseries and bakeries throughout France, particularly in regions known for their exceptional pastries, such as Paris, Lyon, and Provence. The key to a perfect brioche with jam lies in the quality of the brioche itself – it should be light, airy, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. Additionally, using high-quality, homemade jam can take this dish to the next level, ensuring a delightful burst of fruit flavor in every bite. For those looking to recreate this indulgent treat at home, there are alternative methods for making brioche with jam, such as incorporating different types of jam or even adding a dollop of fresh whipped cream for an extra touch of decadence. Whether enjoyed in a charming French café or lovingly prepared in a home kitchen, brioche with jam is a timeless delight that continues to captivate food lovers around the world.
