Bratwurst Sandwich on Pretzel Bun with Melted Swiss Cheese and Bacon
Created by: Howcan Team
Ingredients
- 2 bratwurst sausages
- 2 pretzel buns
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese
- 4 slices of bacon
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1/4 cup of sauerkraut (optional)
- 1/4 cup of whole grain mustard (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Cook the bratwurst sausages on the grill for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through.
- While the bratwurst is cooking, heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the bacon until crispy, then set aside on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
- Once the bratwurst is cooked, remove from the grill and set aside. Place the pretzel buns on the grill, cut side down, and toast for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.
- Assemble the sandwiches by placing a slice of Swiss cheese on the bottom half of each pretzel bun. Place a cooked bratwurst on top of the cheese, followed by 2 slices of bacon. Add sauerkraut if desired.
- Place another slice of Swiss cheese on top of the bacon, then cover with the top half of the pretzel bun.
- Brush the top of the pretzel bun with olive oil and return the sandwiches to the grill for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bun is crispy.
- Serve the sandwiches with whole grain mustard on the side, if desired, and enjoy!
