Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups of black sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups of graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 24 ounces of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup of semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch springform pan.
  • In a food processor, pulse 1 cup of black sesame seeds until finely ground. Add melted butter, graham cracker crumbs, and 1/4 cup of granulated sugar. Pulse until combined. Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  • In a large bowl, beat cream cheese, 1 cup of granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the remaining 1/2 cup of black sesame seeds. Pour the mixture over the crust.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes or until the center is almost set. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Carefully run a knife around the edge of the pan to loosen. Cool for 1 hour. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  • In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add chocolate chips. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then stir until smooth. Drizzle the chocolate sauce over the chilled cheesecake.
  • Slice and serve the black sesame cheesecake with chocolate drizzle. Enjoy!

The history of Black Sesame Cheesecake with a chocolate drizzle can be traced back to the fusion of traditional cheesecake with Asian flavors. This decadent dessert combines the rich, nutty taste of black sesame with the indulgent sweetness of chocolate. Renowned chefs in both Western and Asian kitchens have experimented with this unique combination, blending creamy cheesecake with the earthy, aromatic notes of black sesame. The addition of a luscious chocolate drizzle adds a delightful contrast, elevating the dessert to a whole new level of indulgence. Today, the best versions of this dish can be found in upscale patisseries and fusion restaurants that specialize in innovative desserts. To achieve the perfect balance of flavors, it's crucial to use high-quality black sesame paste and premium chocolate for the drizzle.
