Beef Jalfrezi

Ingredients
- 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 2 green chilies, sliced
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced beef and cook until browned, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tbsp of vegetable oil and cumin seeds. Cook until the seeds start to sizzle.
- Add the sliced onion, garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Cook until the onions are soft and translucent.
- Stir in the ground coriander, ground cumin, turmeric, and chili powder. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the sliced red and green bell peppers, and chopped tomatoes. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet and mix well with the vegetables and spices.
- Season with salt and sprinkle garam masala over the mixture. Stir to combine.
- Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the beef is tender and the vegetables are cooked to your liking.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with steamed rice or naan bread.
