  • 1 block of extra firm tofu, pressed and drained
  • 1 cup of BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup of coleslaw (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup of coleslaw (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Slice the pressed tofu into 1/2 inch thick slices.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the BBQ sauce, olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  • Place the tofu slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush both sides with the BBQ sauce mixture.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping the tofu halfway through, until the edges are crispy and the sauce has caramelized.
  • Remove the tofu from the oven and use two forks to shred it into small pieces.
  • Toss the shredded tofu in any remaining BBQ sauce mixture.
  • Toast the hamburger buns in a toaster or on a skillet until lightly browned.
  • Assemble the sandwiches by placing a generous amount of the BBQ pulled tofu on the bottom half of each bun, and topping with coleslaw if desired.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!
