Vietnamese

Banh mi, a Vietnamese sandwich, has a rich history dating back to the French colonial period. The fusion of French baguettes with Vietnamese ingredients resulted in this iconic dish. The crispy baguette, tender meat, pickled vegetables, and flavorful condiments create a harmonious blend of textures and flavors. Renowned chefs like Chef Andrea Nguyen have popularized banh mi in the US, while restaurants in Vietnam, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City and Hoi An, are celebrated for their authentic versions. The key to a perfect banh mi lies in the balance of ingredients, especially the quality of the baguette and the marinated meats. For a twist, consider the vegetarian banh mi with tofu or tempeh.
