American

American meatloaf has a rich history dating back to the 19th century, when it was a popular way to stretch meat rations. This classic comfort food is a staple in American households, with variations found in different regions. Chefs like James Beard and Julia Child popularized meatloaf, adding their own unique twists. Today, the best meatloaf can be found in diners and family-owned restaurants across the country, with notable versions in the Midwest and the South. The key to a delicious meatloaf lies in the blend of ground meats, such as beef, pork, and veal, along with the right combination of seasonings and a perfectly glazed top. For a twist, some chefs use alternative ingredients like oats or even quinoa to add texture and flavor.
