Homemade Advocaat

Ingredients
- 6 egg yolks
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 cup of brandy
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
Instructions
- In a heatproof bowl, whisk together 6 egg yolks and 1 cup of granulated sugar until well combined.
- Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Cook, stirring constantly, for about 5-7 minutes or until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
- Remove the bowl from the heat and let it cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, stir in 1 cup of brandy, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg.
- In a separate bowl, whip 1/2 cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the egg mixture until well combined.
- Transfer the Advocaat to a clean, airtight container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Serve chilled and enjoy on its own or use in cocktails.
