Zebra Print Cake

Created by: Howcan Team

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1 cup of butter and 2 cups of sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
  • Divide the batter evenly into two bowls. In one bowl, sift in the cocoa powder and mix until fully combined.
  • To create the zebra print effect, spoon 3 tablespoons of vanilla batter into the center of each cake pan. Then, spoon 3 tablespoons of chocolate batter directly in the center of the vanilla batter. Continue alternating the batters until all the batter is used up, creating a concentric circle pattern.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, assemble the cakes with your favorite frosting between the layers and on top. Enjoy your zebra print cake!
