Ingredients
- 3 cups of whole wheat flour
- 1 packet of active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of warm water
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of whole wheat flour, 1 packet of active dry yeast, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of honey with 1 cup of warm water until the honey is dissolved.
- Add the honey and water mixture to the dry ingredients and stir to combine.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place the loaf in a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- Cover the pan with the kitchen towel and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the bread for 30-40 minutes, or until it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove the bread from the oven and brush the top with 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
