Ingredients
- 4 venison cube steaks
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
Instructions
- In a shallow dish, combine 1/2 cup of flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder.
- Dredge the venison cube steaks in the seasoned flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- In a large skillet, heat 1/4 cup of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the coated venison cube steaks to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and mushrooms. Cook for 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
- Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of the seasoned flour mixture over the vegetables and stir to combine.
- Gradually pour in 2 cups of beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
- Bring the gravy to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until it thickens.
- Return the venison cube steaks to the skillet, spooning the mushroom gravy over the top.
- Simmer for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
