  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Divide the pizza dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a 6-inch circle on a lightly floured surface.
  • Spread 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce on one half of each dough circle, leaving a small border around the edge.
  • Sprinkle 1/4 cup of mozzarella cheese over the marinara sauce on each dough circle.
  • Evenly distribute the bell peppers, mushrooms, black olives, red onion, and fresh basil over the cheese on each dough circle.
  • Drizzle 1/4 teaspoon of olive oil over the vegetable filling on each dough circle, then sprinkle with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Fold the other half of the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape, then crimp the edges to seal the calzones.
  • Place the calzones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brush the tops with the beaten egg wash, and cut a few small slits in the top of each calzone to allow steam to escape during baking.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the calzones are golden brown and the dough is cooked through.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving, and enjoy!
