The history of Turkish Kofte dates back to the Ottoman Empire, where it was a favorite dish among the sultans and their court. This flavorful blend of ground meat, onions, and spices has been passed down through generations, each family adding their own unique twist. Today, it's a staple in Turkish cuisine, often enjoyed at bustling street food stalls and family-owned restaurants. The best version of this dish can be found in Istanbul, where skilled chefs meticulously prepare the kofte, grilling them to perfection. The key to a delicious kofte wrap lies in the quality of the meat and the balance of spices. It's a must-try for anyone visiting Turkey, and a popular alternative method is to serve the kofte in a warm pita with fresh veggies, adding a delightful crunch and freshness to the dish.
